Mammut has transformed itself from a traditional rope maker into a leading international mountaineering and outdoor equipment brand with its own global distribution network.

Challenge

Mammut moves in a traditionally high-turnover mass market for sports and outdoor equipment. With Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, the brand faces saturated home markets and increased shopping tourism due to the strong Swiss franc. Revenue growth is realized mostly in the B2C sector.

We supported Mammut in positioning itself as a premium brand able to withstand turbulence even at high altitudes. Mammut consequently translates its highly emotional brand promise into very selective distribution, marketing and sponsoring. In 2014, Mammut opened 12 new mono-brand stores, offering customers its expertise first hand.

Result

Today, Mammut generates a turnover of CHF 250 million with some 600 employees worldwide. Relying on its premium positioning and “absolute alpine” slogan, the company continues to successfully expand into the Asia and U.S. growth markets.
